Dedicated At Akiva

The Sara Tugman Learning
Resource Center of Akiva
Hebrew Day School was
dedicated recently.
The Sara Tugman LRC is
designed to help Akiva
students who have learning
disabilities, who need to learn
English as a second language,
or who recririre assistance
with other learning problems.
The center was made possi-
ble through-a major gift from
the Tugman, Goodman and
Weinbaum families in
memory of their wife, mother
and grandmother, Sara
Tugman, who died in

December 1986.
Along with the Sara
Tugman Learning Resource
Center, the Tugman, Good-
man and Weinbaum families
also established the Sara
Tugman Memorial Fund as
part of the Akiva Endowment
Program.
Steven Z. Cohen, Akiva

tion plaques to family

Tugman (Sara's widower),

Lectures, Programs Set
For Students At U-M

Pinchas Kahana, an expert
on land development in
Israel, will speak on progress
in urban and rural planning
from Tel Aviv to the Negev on
Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the
Michigan Union at the
University of Michigan.
Refreshments will be served.
The Union of Students for
Israel and AZYF are sponsor-
ing the program. Admission is
free.
On Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in
the Per delton Room of the
Michigan Union, "Talk To
Us", Hillel's issue-oriented
theater company and Dr.
Gary Spencer, professor of
sociology at Syracuse Univer-
sity, will present a discussion
on the concept of the "Jewish
American Princess."
Dr. Spencer's talk will be
preceded by a performance by
"Talk to Us." The scenes,
employing character-
audience interaction, will ex-
plore stereotypes perpetuated
by non-Jews and Jews alike. A
discussion will follow the lec-
ture. Admission is free.
Hill Street Cinema/Jewish
Film Series will present Poor
Butterfly in Spanish with
English subtitles at 7:30 and

9:30 p.m. Feb. 6 in the Modern
Languages Building,
Auditorium 3 at U-M. There
is a charge.
Progressive
Zionist
Caucus/Jewish Film Series
presents Avanti Popolo in
Hebrew with English sub-
titles at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 9 in the
Michigan Union Kuenzel
Room. Admission is free.
The U-M Jewish Law
Students Union will present
Aaron Kirschenbaum on the
newly proposed constitution
for the State of Israel at 7:30
p.m. Feb. 8 at the U-M Law
School. Prof. Kirschenbaum
is the chairman of the depart-
ment of Jewish law at Tel
Aviv University. Admission is
free.

Hayride Due
For Collegians

The B'nai B'rith Hillel
Foundations of Metropolitan
Detroit, in conjunction with
the Hillel Foundation at the
University of Windsor, will
sponsor a hayride and dance
in Woodslee, Ontario, on Feb.
13. There will be a late
