Gordon will be the guest lecturer at the annual Young Israel of Oak- Woods James I. Gordon Lec- ture to be held on Tu B'Shevat. The lecture will be on Wednesday at the synagogue at 8 p.m. and will mark Rabbi and Mrs. Gor- don's visit to Detroit after having made aliyah in August 1985. Rabbi Gordon served as spiritual leader of Young Israel of Oak-Woods for 22 years before his retirement. He was one of the founders of Yeshivat Akiva and chairman of its education committee for the first ten years of its existence. Rabbi Gordon served on the board of governors of the Jewish Welfare Federation, on the executive committees of the Jewish Community Council, the Jewish National Fund and served on the presidium of Mizrachi. He is a former national vice presi- dent of the Rabbinical Coun- cil of America and the Rab- binic Alumni of Yeshiva University and former na- tional president of the American Association of Cor- rectional Chaplains, among other national and local agen- cy boards.
