Choral Society
Has Auditions

Bel Canto Choral Society
will hold auditions for the
spring season on Feb. 8. The
34 member women's choir,
under the direction of Denise
Ogden and accompanied by
Rochelle Barr, will rehearse
for future programs at Temple
Beth-El, the Downtown
Public Library and the
Maple/Drake Jewish Com-
munity Center.
Women who read music and
enjoy singing should contact

an audition appointment.
Rehearsals for Bel Canto are
held Monday nights at South-
field-Lathrup High School.

Globetrotter

The Oak Park Department
of Recreation will host a fami-
ly trip to see the Harlem
Globetrotters on Feb. 27 at
Cobo Arena. The trip will
leave from the Oak Park
Community Center at 1 p.m.

Name Artist

Beth Laraine Dzodin is the
recipient of an artist-in-
residence grant from the Troy
School District for 1987-1988.
Ms. Dzodin is working with
kindergarten classes,
teaching feelings through
creative movement and
through use of the theatrical
mask. Having studied at Tel
Aviv University (Ma Theater)
with a special emphasis on
the mask in oriental theater
Ms. Dzodin uses the mask as
a tool in employing
improvisation.
Since receiving her M.A.
degree from Tel Aviv Univer-
sity, she has given workshops
at Oakland University,
Wayne State University
(School of Special Education),
the Detroit Institute of Arts,
The Children's Museum and
at the Jewish Community
Center through a grant from
the Michigan Council on the
Arts. Last summer, she was a
full-time presenter at the
CAJE conference (Coalition
on Alternatives in Jewish
Education) in Atlanta, Ga.,
and she also will present
dance/drama workshops this
summer when the CAJE con-
ference will be held in
Jerusalem.
