n

JN

t was more than just
another black-tie affair
for Michigan Cancer
Foundation . . . Evening was
also a sight-seeing experience
as MCF Circle of Fellows were
entertained in the lavish
Bloomfield Hills home of Bob
and Pat Schmalzreid.
The magnificent six-acres of
land on Kirkway Rd. was
originally 12 . . . with the
other six owned by neighbor
Spencer Partrich.
Home of Bob and Pat was
formerly abode of Pulte
Homes' William Pulte . . . His
14 • children had plenty of
room to roam . . . Bob and Pat
can play hide-and-go-seek and
get lost . . . Everybody who
saw the master bedroom went
away in awe . . . Alongside it
is a huge tub with jacuzzi .. .
Another door goes into a
sauna . . . It has two
bathrooms . . . gold fixtures
and probably much more that
I didn't see.
Downstairs, Bob "Hoosier
Slim" Allison beat me in a
game of eight ball pool .. .
Millie Paster accidently drip-
ped some champagne on
another guest . . . Iry
Dworkin was being taken for
Burt Lancaster while wife
Alga says it used to be Dan
Dailey . . . Gene Applebaum's
"date" was daughter Lisa
while wife Marcia was out-of-
town . . . Sydell and Doug
Schubot among those leading
the well-dressed persons
parade . . . John Bloom
reminiscing about places of
yesteryears like his
"hangout" downtown behind
J.L. Hudson, The Mermaid's
Cave . . . Ortheia Barnes sang
and her group played for dan-
cing . . . The always-attentive
Cary Glazer and his Touch of
Class valet parkers carefully
wheeled cars, etc.
USED BOOKS
for
children eight years and
under are desperately needed
. . . by new lending library be-.
ing formed for youngsters at
Fairview Early Childhood
Center in Farmington Hills
. . . Call Dharlene Norris,
553-3764, or leave message
and they will be picked up.
CONGRATS. ... to Fran
and Izzy Malin . . . on their
50th anniversary . . . (thanks
for having it on my birthday
tomorrow.)
AFTER RECENT fire at
Lincoln Tower Apartments,
many of the residents were
cold and tired from sitting in
the lobby . . . Jodi Wolfe and

sister Shari Kasmer made a
few trips to bring fresh coffee
from nearby 7-11 store .. .
whose employees that even-
ing were given permission
from its owner to supply the
residents with much ap-
preciated hot coffee . . . A lot
of thanks go out to the 7-11
owner and employees.
I DO DEPT. ... Lila Or-
bach and Rob Severinac are
engaged for a ringing
ceremony after he graduates
Wayne Medical School .. .
She was on Caribbean trip
with mom Evelyn and dad
Cantor Harold Orbach . . .
Rob couldn't leave med school
for the trip . . . and took no
chances on waiting for her to
return . . . so flew down to
propose.
LYNN ZIEGLER'S turn
came around, and instead of
using her apartment she had
the gals over to Gateway Deli,
owned by Lennie Fidler and
Lynn in Harvard Row Mall,
Lahser and 11 . . Phyllis Col-
lins, Roz Benaim, Lois Bez,
Beverly Benderoff, Betty
Cohen, Pikey Siegel and
Lynn played Pam game at the
deli from 7:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
that evening . . . and of course
noshed a bit.

GREATER DETROIT

Club in Florida has its an-
nual installation dinner-
dance Feb. 20 at the Crystal
Lake Country Club in Pom-
pano Beach . . . Officers for
this year are Al Rose, presi-
dent; Leonard Brightman,
vice president; Marian Rich,
treasurer; and Eli Lipsitz,
recording secretary . . . For
more info, call Al Rose,
487-7041, or Leonard
Brightman, 487-7916.

BELATED CONGRATS.
. to Nancy Saltsman . . . on
her birthday.
DR. ALVIN PENSLER,
Garden City dentist, has
taught all over the world to
some very impressive dentists
and now has the distinction of
lecturing to the youngest
member of a scientc au-
dience . . . At his recent Min-
neapolis, Minn. seminar,
sponsored by 3M, Dr. Debbie
Lehnus brought her 21/2-week-
old son, David, to hear Alvin
speak . . . Mom stayed awake
but David slept through the
four hours.

WANDA WILLIAMS, a
pastry chef for Charley's Crab
of Troy recently received a
gold medal in the Michigan
Restaurant Association
culinary arts salon held at
Cobo Hall . . . She entered an
Australian lace wedding cake.
