The almost 50-seater at
former locale of "Hello Deli"
has a wide variety of
homemade food from kibbee
(baked or nyee), grape leaves
(meat or vegetarian), shar-
warma (marinated beef
tenderloin), chicken sharwar-
ma (marinated chicken
breasts), soups, etc. . . . Even
different kinds of burgers, too.
I was among those shocked
at the wide, beautiful, clean
Kabob Grill which opened
Jan. 2 of this year . . . by first
cousins on both mother's and
father's side, Fadi Abdelnour,
former cook at Phoenicia in
Highland Park and South-
field Manor, and Sleiman
Abdelnour, waiter at
Phoenicia in Birmingham
three years while working for
his master's degree in
engineering from University
of Detroit . . . It had always
been a dream of both to own
their own restaurant.
Kabob Grill, open Mondays
through Saturdays, 10:30
a.m. to 10 p.m., looks much
larger than its seating capaci-
ty in the informal, relaxed at-
mosphere . . . Its prices are
welcomly low or such good
quality . . . I tasted the horn-
mus (mashed chick peas with
sesame seeds), baba ghan-
nouge (mashed eggplant with
sesame seeds), labneh (yogurt
with olive oil) and grape
leaves stuffed with meat .. .
and was equally surprised at
the fine homemade taste.
