B'nei Akiva To Host A Mini-Shabbaton This weekend B'nei Akiva will host a mini-Shabbaton for youth in Shevet Dror (grade ten) and Shevet HeChalutz (grade 11). The weekend will revolve around the special B'nei Akiva Sum- mer Programs, including Mach Hach Ba'Aretz-Summer in Israel and also Seminar Summer at the Torah Va'Avoda Institute. Guest speakers will be Yitz- chak Feigenbaum, national director of B'nei Akiva; and Jay Wolf, head of the Mach Hach Ba'Aretz program. Members of Chevereyah Bet (high school) are invited to an Oneg Shabbat at 7:30 p.m. to- day at Young Israel of Green- field. Walking groups will be arranged. On Saturday, the B'nei Akiva Players will perform at Young Israel of Oak-Woods' melave malka at 8 p.m. Members of the dance troupe, performing two original dances are: Rachel Perl, Ilana Forst, Michal Brickman, Rebecca Tytel, Dena Kresch, Rachel Wolkinson, Rechelle Winkler, Shifra Singal and Dena Rothstein. Presenting a playlet entitl- ed The Carob Tree will be: Gadi Perl, Brian Schon, Daniel Forst, David Wolkin- son and Tzvi Kresch. The en- tire cast of B'nei Akiva Players will also perform a medley of Hebrew folk songs. On Sunday, B'nei Akiva Juniors-Chevreyah Zach (grades six-eight) will hold its opening event, ice skating, to be followed by a pizza party. The group will meet at the Young Israel of Southfield at 3:30 p.m. for transportation to the Oak Park Compuware Ice Arena. After the event, elec- tions will be held. Torah Center Targets Youth The Bais Chabad Torah Center has resumed its rDzivos Hashem Youth Group for children ages 6-11. The youth groups are geared towards giving children a fun time within the context of a Torah atmosphere. Mrs. Rochel Wineberg will direct the program. She will be aided by Remy Borsand, Jamie Ruby and Chanie Wineberg. There will be two groups: one age 6-8, the other age 9-11. The first meeting will take place at the Torah Center on Sunday at 2 p.m. The groups will meet each month at the Bais Chabad Center. Periodically, the children will go on field trips.
