became senior assistant in
the division of world Jewish
affairs where he dealt main-
ly with relations with the
American Jewish community.
He has published several ar-
ticles on current affairs in the
Jerusalem Post and the
Hebrew Press.
Also on the assembly agen-
da will be the unveiling of a
commemorative work of art
commissioned by the Interna-
tional Institute of Detroit on
behalf of the Council's 50th
anniversary. Dr. Conrad
Giles, Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion president, will present an
award in honor of the Concil's
anniversary.
Norma Silver, of the Federa-
tion's Jewish Information Ser-
vice, will speak briefly about
the project's services.
Following the Assembly,
beverages and pastries will be
served by members of the
United Hebrew Schools
Woman's Auxiliary.
The entire community is in-
vited, and there is no charge.

Council Names
Ozery To Post

The Jewish Community
Council has named Kathy
Ozery its community affairs
associate for Soviet Jewry.
She is responsible for guiding
and implementing activities
of the Council's Soviet Jewry
Committee, as well as for
facilitating the Adopt-a-
Family and bar/bat mitzvah
twinning programs.
Prior to her appointment to
the Council staff, Ozery work-
ed with the Jewish Agency in
Israel as an information coor-
dinator for Project Renewal's
overseas section. She also has
experience as a free-lance
writer and as a publications
assistant at Hebrew Univer-
sity. Ozery is a graduate of
The American University in
Washington, D.C.
