Women Leaders
On Mission
It was a mission to
remember for the 18 par-
ticipants in the first Women's
Hadracha leadership mission,
sponsored by the Jewish
Welfare Federation.
The highlight of the mis-
sion, according to Chairmen
Susan Citrin and Edie Mit-
tenthal, was the group bat
mitzvah atop Masada. In ad-
dition to the chairmen, those
taking part in the service in-
cluded Deena Canvasser, An-
nie Cohen, Jo Frank, Susan
Goldenberg, Susan Jacob,
Beverly Liss, Diane Lutz,
Shelley Milin, Cheryl Riback,
Marta Rosenthal, Linda
Schafer, Nancy Simpson, Lisa
Sommers, Gail Stewart, Bar-
bara Tukel and Linda Zlotoff.
During their stay in Israel,
the women visited with
former refuseniks, stayed on
a kibbutz, met with Ethio-
pian immigrants at Bicur
Cholim Hadassah Hospital
and spent time in Ramla,
Detroit's Project Renewal
sister city, where they had
dinner with Marilyn Grant,
Detroit's Project Renewal
communicator.
In Israel, Hadracha par-
ticipants pledged more than
$41,000 to the 1988 Allied
Jewish Campaign — an in-
crease of $20,000 over last
year's gifts. They are now in
the process of soliciting 15
contributors each,
face-to-face.
