USSR Can Keep Assets In Israel Tel Aviv (JTA) — Davar last week quoted Victor Harel, Director of the Foreign Ministry's Claims Depart- ment, as saying that Israel has informed the USSR that all its rights to assets in Israel will be preserved, and a plot of land in the center of Jerusalem will be returned to the Soviets. The new head of the Soviet Consular delegation in Israel, Georgi Montirosov met with Foreign Ministry political director-general Yossi Beilin and later with Harel. The ex- tension of the delegations visas was not discussed at the meeting but will be handled at another meeting. Israel has not yet made a final decision on whether to extend the visas if the Soviets so request. A the meeting with Beilin, the Soviet official said that Israel's request to send a reciprocal consular delegation to Moscow is being seriously considered in Moscow. Israel is reported to be insisting on the principal of reciprocity. Savir Named Consul General Jerusalem (JTA) — Uri Savir, an aide to Foreign Minister Shimon Peres, last week was named the next consul general in New York, one of Israel's most important and prestigious diplomatic postings. In other appointments, Yoav Biran was named am- bassador to London and Binyamin Navon was named ambassador to Bonn. Savir, 33, who is presently Peres' media adviser, will suc- ceed Consul General Moshe Yegar, who is slated to become Israel's ambassador to Sweden.
