`IF YOU WILL IT,
IT IS NO DREAM'
Joint Resolution of the
Congregational Rabbis
of
Metropolitan Detroit
In seeking to preserve a strong Jewish People, we, the
congregational rabbis of Detroit, urge every man,
woman and child in our community to support the
work of the Jewish Welfare Federation by contributing
to its Allied Jewish Campaign.
We call upon every individual to pledge his or her best
gift to the 1988 Campaign. When a volunteer calls,
express your faith in the Jewish future.
Make a difference. •
Forty years ago, in shock from the destruction of 6 mil-
lion of our people, we made a promise: Despite the
inestimable loss, we would not lose faith in our future.

The passing decades have more than vindicated that
promise. Standing beside the reborn State of Israel, we
have helped her record extraordinary achievements:
the absorption of a million and a half immigrants from
the four corners of the world. The conquering of the
desert and its consequences for a hungry world. The
development of scientific advances that will benefit all
people.
Theodor Herzl said it best: "If you will it, it is no dream."
RABBI MARC S. BLUMENTHAL
Individually, we cannot accomplish such monumental
tasks. Together, there is no stopping us.
Each of us can make a difference in realizing that
destiny. Through the Jewish Welfare Federation, we
can support Jewish schools, camps and cultural
projects. We can ease the loneliness and physical
impairment of our aged by funding new and exciting
programs through our Federation agencies. We can
help our people meet hardship with dignity through our
overseas link with the United Jewish Appeal.

A month ago in Washington, 200,000 Jews from across
America came together to demand freedom for Soviet
Jewry. But the message was only partly about Soviet
Jewry. It was equally about Jewish destiny and our
determination that it remain in Jewish hands.

Have we the will to realize our dreams here at home?
The will to improve the quality of life of our aged?
The will to ensure that our children will remain Jewish?
The will to settle refugees from lands of oppressioh and
ease the burden of troubled families?
