great-grandson.

BERNARD GOLDSTON,
50, former Detroiter of
Marengo, Ill., died Dec. 28.
Survived by his wife, Joanne;
two sons, Charles of Dearborn
Heights and Mark of Ypsilan-
ti; a daughter, Robin of Dear-
born Heights; his mother, Eva
of Columbus, Ohio; a brother,
Sanford of Columbus; and a
sister, Mrs. Raymond
(Carolyn) Huiss of Columbus.
Interment Illinois.

ERNEST KLEIN, 69, former
Detroiter of Las Vegas, Nev.,
died Dec. 28. Survived by his
wife, Rebecca (Eder); and two
sons, Harold and Martin.

IDA LISNOV, 88, former
Detroiter of Kingston, Pa.,
died Dec. 30. Survived by a
son, Cy of West Bloomfield; a
daughter, Mrs. Flo Weiner of
Kingston; and eight gran-
dhildren. Interment Wilkes-
Barre, Pa.

BECKY NESSEL, 76, died

Jan. 12. She leaves her hus-
band, Abe; six children, Mrs.
Arnold (Pauline) Sabaroff,
Mrs. William (Ethel)
Ogoroskin, Morris, Martin,
Jerry and Mrs. Randall
(Carolyn) Guffrey; a brother,
Albert Goren; 14 grand-
children and nine
great-grandchildren.

Anna W. Chapin, assistant
director of the endowment
fund for the Jewish Welfare
Federation, died Jan. 7 at age
69.

DR. HARRY I. SKLAR, 69,
of West Bloomfield, died Jan.
6. Survived by his wife,
Shirley; three sons, Stuart of
West Hempstead, N.Y., Gary
of Beverly Hills, Calif., and
Robert of Santa Monica,
Calif.; six grandchildren and
one great-granddaughter.

A native of Detroit, Mrs.
Chapin was the bookkeeper
for the Federation from 1936
to 1945. From 1945 to 1962,
she left the Federation to
raise her family. She return-
ed to the Federation in 1962,
and became comptroller in
1982. She held her current
post since 1982.

died Jan. 6. She leaves two

Anna Chapin

She attended Wayne State
University, where she ma-
jored in accounting. She was
past president of the Sheruth
League and helped establish
the Sheruth Village at Camp
Tamarack. Mrs. Chapin was a
member of the board of direc-
tors of the Fresh Air Society
since 1950 and offered her
services for the budgeting
process.

Mrs. Chapin was the chair-
man of the Council of Jewish
Federations' comptrollers in-
stitute from 1977 to 1981 in
the endowment department.
She compiled a volume of a
history of the Jews of Detroit.
Prior to her illness, she
started a second volume,
which will be dedicated in her
memory.

She worked with the
Michigan Volunteer Group
Plan for Unemployment, and
was an officer of the organiza-
tion for many years.

She leaves a son, Neil S.;
two daughters, Mrs. Dan
(Cheryl) Guyer and Mrs. Mar-
tin (Elise) Levinson; two
brothers, David Weinberg and
Lester Weinberg of Colum-
bus, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Adele
Staller; and six
grandchildren.
