Film Series At Adat Shalom a series of shorts tracing the history of Ellis Island, the 1939 documentary Bound For Nowhere, and the 1947 historic film, The Illegals. The series is sponsored by the synagogue's adult study commission, which regularly presents programs designed to broaden the community's cultural experience. Dan Greenberg, film critic and a professor of film, will introduce the movies and comment on them. A member of the adult study commis- sion, Greenberg teaches film at Oakland Community Col- lege and writes a weekly col- umn for the Observer and Ec- centric Newspapers. He also appears each week on Arts in Review, an OCC-TV produc- tion telecast on all Oakland County cable systems. On Jan. 17, Greenberg will show Exodus, Otto Prem- inger's award-winning film which tells the story of the birth of the State of Israel. The series will conclude Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. with "We Were So Beloved, Manfred Kircheimer's documentary celebration of the German- Jewish community of Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood.
