Jewish Welfare Federation
Women's Division volunteers
will be calling 4,500 Detroit
area women during Phonogift
on Jan. 17, 18 and 24 asking
them to make their pledges to
the 1988 Allied Jewish
Campaign.
More than 300 division
women will be making calls
from the United Hebrew
Schools in Southfield, asking
local women to support -the
Campaign's human service
agencies at home and
overseas. Barbara Cook
chairs the Phonogift effort.
In addition to the regular
pre-telethon briefing,
representatives from some of
Federation's member agen-
cies — such as Jewish Family
Service and Jewish Federa-
tion Apartments — will be at
United Hebrew Schools to
talk with workers about local
needs.
Assisting Cook are Rusty
Rosman, associate chairman;
Linda Garfield, adviser; Frit-
zi Roth and Helen Naimark,
co-chairmen, Business & Pro-
fessional Division Phonogift
Campaign; Kim Dickstein
and Lois Falk, clerical; Doris
August and Brooke Grace,
Campaign education; and
Joyce Sherman and Sharon
Taylor, special handling.

YAD Hosts
Fundraiser

The Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion Young Adult Division
will hold its meeting for
Allied Jewish Campaign con-
tributors of $100 or more on
Thursday at the Radisson
Plaza Hotel.
Set for 7:30 p.m. in the
Algonquin Ballroom, the
meeting will give young
adults an opportunity to
socialize and meet with local
and national Jewish leader

Larry Jackier, who will
describe his experiences on
the United Jewish Appeal's
recent Kadima leadership
mission.
Jackier is a member of the
Jewish Welfare Federation's
Executive Committee and
chairs its Conference of Divi-
sion Chairmen. He also
chairs the Project Renewal
Committee and is the advisor
to the Allied Jewish Cam-
paign divisions.
Karen I. Goodman, Tamara
R. Gorosh, Dr. Larry Handler
and Hannan Lis are chair-
men of the event. Dennis S.
Bernard and Lisa Sommers
are YAD Campaign chair-
men.

Endowment
Reception

Detroit area attorneys and
accountants have been in-
vited to a Jan. 19 cocktail
reception sponsored by the
Jewish Welfare Federation's
Federated Endowment Fund.
The gathering begins at
5:30 p.m. Jan. 19 in
Southfield's Radisson Plaza
Hotel. Two new Endowment
Fund resources — the profes-
sional handbook "Guide to
Charitable Giving" and a
video, "A Promise for the
Future II," will be previewed.
The "Guide to Charitable
Giving" is a comprehensive
volume of forms and informa-
tion prepared by experts in
the field. It is a useful tool for
professionals working with
charitable giving and estate
planning.
Stanley Weingarden and
Arthur Weiss are chairmen of
the Endowment Fund's Pro-
fessional Advisory
Committee.

Design Forum
Due For Women

The National Council of
Jewish Women, Greater
Detroit Section, will present
a two-part Design Forum
with Eve Garvin beginning
Wednesday at The Penthouse,
16500 North Park Dr.,
Southfield.
The local columnist and
author of Designing Ways of-
fers "At Home with Eve Gar-
vin — Tour and Discussion"
on Jan. 13 and "How It All
Comes Together — Your
Design Questions Answered"
on Jan. 20. Both sessions will
run from 12:30 to 2:45 p.m.
Garvin has been an interior
designer for 20 years. Her
work has been featured in the
Detroit Free Press, the Pontiac
