Seniors Hear
Book Review
The senior adult depart-
ment at the Jimmy Prentis
Morris Building of the Jewish
Community Center will host
a book review presented by
Frances Weinberg who will
discuss First Born by Doris
Mortman at 11 a.m. Tuesday
in room 4.
Herman Chapin, Detroit
Symphony Orchestra docent,
will interpret the music to be
played at the Jan. 8 coffee
concert, at the Tuesday Lec-
ture Series to take place in
the JPM assembly hall at 1
p.m.
The second part of the
movie April Showers will be
shown at 2 p.m. Tuesday in
the assembly hall.
Jewish literature will be
discussed by Chana Klein in
the JPM library at 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday.
A new service, Consumer
Advocacy, will begin Wednes-
day. Lois Zemmol, consumer
advocate, will help seniors
solve problems dealing with
repairs, warranties, service
contracts, etc. She will be
available in the lobby from
12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
The book fair video The
Precious Legacy will be
discussed by its author, David
Altshuler, in the JPM lobby
at 10 a.m. Thursday. The
Culture Club will present
Cantor Louis Klein of Cong.
B'nai Moshe accompanied by
Lillian Zelman at 12:30 p.m.
Thursday in Jaffe Hall of the
JPM.
The senior adult depart-
ment of the Jewish Corn-
munity Center will present
Detroit Symphony Weeks.
Concerts are being provided
courtesy of the Boaz Siegel
Endowment Fund and the
Michigan Council for the
Arts. There is a nominal
charge to cover the cost of
transportation.
The movie, Hollywood
Cavalcade will be shown by
Archie Leslie in the JPM
Assembly Hall at 2 p.m. on
Jan. 10. There is no charge.
Senior Adult
Staff Adds 1Wo
The senior adult depart-
ment of the Jewish Com-
munity Center, Jimmy Pren-
tis Morris Building, an-
nounces Leila Raden and Lois
Zemmol have been added to
the staff.
A certified rehabilitation
registered nurse, Raden will
offer a six-part lecture/discus-
sion series focusing on the use
of adaptive aids in daily liv-
ing. Ms. Raden's background
includes working as a consul-
tant for medical disability
claims with a major Chicago
insurance company as well as
medical management in the
field of rehabilitation and
nursing home experience.
Ms. Zemmol prepared for
her role as a consumer ad-
vocate through participation
in training sessions sponsored
by the Detroit Bureau of Con-
sumer Affairs. She will be
available to assist with con-
sumer complaints on
Wednesdays, from 12:30 to
1:30 p.m. in the JPM lobby.
JPM Librarian
Is Appointed
The Jimmy Prentis Morris
Building of the Jewish Com-
munity Center announces the
appointment of Esther Deal
to the position of JPM
librarian. Deal will be at the
Center on Tuesday and
Thursday mornings. She will
reorganize the Center's col-
' lection of Judaica and Yid-
dish books.
Deal is completing her work
towards a Master of Library
Science degree through an in-
ternship at the Southfield
Public Library. She has also
earned degrees in sociology
and psychology.
Senior Adults
Play Bridge
The senior adult depart-
ment of the Jewish Corn-
munity Center has organized
weekly drop in bridge ses-
sions for individuals at all
skill levels. The next meeting
will be on Thursday in room
239 of the main Jewish
Center at 1 p.m. All are in-

Table Topics
Series Begins
The Table Topics Club at
Botsford General Hospital
will open the new year with
a informative program on
"Forget Forgetting" on Jan.
8. The luncheon event will
take place in the Community
Room at Botsford, 28050
Grand River, Farmington
Hills, and is open to the
public. Each program begins
with a reception at noon, lun-
cheon at 12:30 p.m. and the
program at 1:30 p.m.
