Special Tips
For New Year
DANNY RASKIN
Local Columnist
ess than a week to go
. . . and 1988 will
bounce out, diaper and
all as merrymakers wear sil-
ly hats, blow horns that
sometimes work an throw
streamers that usually wind
up around themselves.
But who cares? . . . It's fun
time for many . . . and one of
the very few nights when
comics will get laughs from
stale jokes as going out last
year and having a great time
. . . with a bunch of Indians
. . . and answering their own
question of how he or she
knew they were Indians .. .
"Because they all had reser-
vations?'
Yes, only on New Year's Eve
could the comic get away with
something like that.
If you're going clubbing and
don't have reservations, forget
about chancing those open
house shindigs unless you call
first to find out if there is
room to get in . . . Best recom-
mendation for those who
know they'll do a bit of imbib-
ing, is to eat before and after.
Sure wouldn't be New
Year's Eve without those par-
ty favors . . . They'll be at all
late seatings, of course, that
hit the magic midnight mark.
If you're looking for a spot
to eat after clubbing . . .
search no further than a
Ram's Horn restaurant .. .
Only three of the 29
restaurant chain will not be
open 24 hours . . . The one on
Orchard Lake Rd. between 12
& 13 Mile is one of those clos-
ing early, but the 12 Mile &
Northwestern operation will
be open . . . as well as other
convenient ones.
Remember, folks, the big-
gest nut in a car is the one
behind the steering wheel on
New Year's Eve . . . especial-
ly if he or she has had a few
drinks . . . Do yourselves a
great big favor . . . and the
cops, too . . . by stopping at a
Ram's Horn or wherever to
soak up that always
dangerous "One for the road?'
Have a very healthy and
happy new year everyone.
