League Offers
Youth Awards

The League of Jewish
Women's Organizations is
taking applications for its an-
nual youth awards.
The league honors those
students who have attaijned
a high scholastic average,
who have demonstrated
leadership and have shown a
strong commitment to service
in the community and to a
religious education.
This year's applicants must
submit a letter of recommen-
dation from those organiza-
tions sponsoring their entry,
and must write an essay on
the topic "The Jewish Value
System: How It Operates in
American Life Today."
Monetary prizes for deserv-
ing students have been pro-
vided by Mrs. Betty
Silverfarb.
Accordng to Charlotte
Nussbaum, chairman of the
youth awards, all interviews
will take place in January.
Applications can be obtained
from the league, religious
schools or youth directors.

Yachad Has
Chanukah Party

Beth Shalom's Yachad
youth group (for children
grades three-five) will hold a
Chanukah party at noon Sun-
day at the synagogue youth
lounge. Holiday arts and
crafts activities and a special
magic show will highlight the
event. There will also be
prizes and refreshments for
participants.
Children are asked to bring
a lunch, and friends are
welcome. There is a charge.
Reservations must be made in
advance by contacting ad-

the synagogue office,
