teaching career completely
and went full throttle into
comedy.
Eventually he met up with
comedienne Jeannie
McBride. The two were wed,
forming the only married
stand-up comedy tandem.
"Jeannie is half-Jewish,"
Wolfberg said, though unable
to say which half.
The two toured together un-
til about two years ago. "We
decided to have a baby,
because my wife was preg-
nant,' Wolfberg explained
matter-of-fact. He loves to
joke about his wife's pregnan-
cy. "When she was pregnant
she never felt the baby kick,
she felt his eyes bulge, that's
how I knew he was mine."
Ever since the baby was
born, Wolfberg has been tour-
ing on his own while his wife
stays in New York with their
one-year-old son, Daniel.
They are presently in the
midst of making a deal on a
house in California, where
Wolfberg hopes to move onto
the silver screen. Both he and
his agent, Marty Klein, who
is also Steve Martin's agent,
are convinced that motion
pictures are his destiny.
While Wolfberg says he's
looking forward to becoming
"bicoastal, trendy and chic in
L.A.," the planning and pro-
blems surrounding the move
have left him quite dishevel-
ed. Chances were good that
while he was on the road,
another buyer was trying to
make a deal on he and Jean-
nie's dream house.
And that's how The Jewish
News found him, wearing
sweat pants, a wrinkled sweat
shirt, unshaven, hair in every
direction and a baseball cap
that reads "Daniel's Dad"
covering his bald spot. He had
left his wife and son in
California to settle in the new
house and couldn't stop wor-
rying about it.
"My performance is here
but my heart is there," he
said in one of those rare
moments when you get to see
a comedian get serious. But
he tried to put his worries
aside at least long enough to
talk about his life as a come-
dian, his background and,
most importantly, his son —
clearly his favorite topic.
"I've never been happier,"
Wolfberg says when talking
about his one-year-old. "Last
week he finally said 'Da Da.'
Unfortuneately he was poin-
ting at the toilet."
Shortly before he arrived in
Ann Arbor, Wolfberg and his
wife were featured on the Dr.
Ruth Show as experts on sex
during pregnancy. "I never
thought I'd be considered an
expert on any kind of sex," he
said. "For years I thought
