Tony is.
As one of the more than 6 million Americans with mental
retardation, he wants the same things you do ... a happy,
productive life ... to make friends . . . to prove himself.
Every day, people like Tony take part in programs of
education and job training, neighborhood living and
self-development, proving that persons with mental
retardation can contribute to our communities.
That's why the Association for Retarded Citizens asks for
your support. Help build better lives.

Drachler makes this in-
teresting point:
"A glance back at the
conventions of 1835 and
1850 reveals that separa-
tion of church and state
was more clearcut in those
days."
But this is true of the
country at large. The Foun-

Republic, especially Jeffer-

deeply concerned that
there should be no legisla-

establishment of religion.
But there have been
changes in our own time.

High
Blood
Pressure?

Only your doctor can tell. Like
more than 10 million other
Americans, you could have
high blood pressure and not
know it until it leads to stroke,
heart or kidney failure. It has
no special symptoms and of-
ten gives no warning. But your
doctor can detect high blood
pressure (he may call it hy-
pertension) and usually con-
trol it. So see your doctor ...
and follow his orders.

on foot in Michigan. There
are new mores and new
trends — all in a direction
that may be interpreted as
leading away from the first
amendment.
It will be interesting to
watch developments in
Washington. Are there
traditionalists who will
share the view of the
framers of Michigan's first
constitution and the opi-
nions of Jefferson and
Madison who will object to
the proposals of Michigan's
senior Senator and his two
associates in the House of
Representatives? Their
bills raise a most in-
teresting issue.
