Shaarey Zedek will present its annual Chanukah Concert and Pageant at 7 p.m. Dec. 13 at the synagogue. Sponsored by the Laker family in memory of Mr. Harry Laker, the concert this year will feature the Halevi Choral Society, directed by Judity H. Karzen. Founded in 1926 by the late Harry Coopersmith and Hyman Reznick, Halevi is now in its 60th year. It per- forms the best loved Jewish choral works, both new and old, • Hebrew and Yiddish, secular and religious. Its performances include music from the Renaissance to the present as well as Ladino, Yiddish and Israeli selections. The Halevi Choral Society is the only profes- sional musical ensemble in the Midwest devoted ex- clusively to the performance of Jewish choral music. The program is open to the public at no charge. Rabbi Drucker Attends Seminar Rabbi Reuven Drucker of Young Israel of Greenfield will join leading rabbis from Kentucky, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Pittsburgh and West Virginia at a special regional rabbinic seminar in Columbus, Ohio, Tuesday and Wednesday to discuss a host . of contemporary issues con- fronting the Orthodox rabbinate. The seminar is sponsored by the Max Stern Division of Communal Services (MSDCS) at the Yeshiva University- affiliated Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS) in New York City. Rabbi Drucker will serve as a panelist at a session on "The Halakhic Implications of Gerus (conversion) and In- termarriage for the Synagogue and the School." Beth Shalom's an- nual Chanukah party and bazaar will take place Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The community is invited. Sisterhood Gift Bazaar will feature exhibitors of items from handmade apparel to jewelry to books to toys. A special section of the bazaar will be set aside as a "kids bazaar" where children can select gifts for their families and friends. A gift-wrapping booth also will be available. There will be a variety of entertainment and a latka lunch and soft drinks. For kids, there will be crafts, games and face-painting. Rabbi Speaks Rabbi Sherwin T.
