terms; so also are Oxford and
Cambridge."
So I asked, "How do you ac-
count for the survival of the
Jew?"
"On account of his vitality
and ability; it is very difficult
to get rid of him," he stated.
Did he think Jews had any
special mission to perform?
"It is all a myth!" he said.
A large majority are misguid-
ed in the thought that they
are the 'Chosen people of
God! "
The conversation turned to
anti-Semitism. He said, "The
Jews should cease despising
the Gentiles. The Jew is still
proud of his brains and power,
still arrogant; still has the
`Chosen people' superstition!'
To best combat anti-
Semitism, he continued, "The
Jew should go ahead and not
have any care!'
And what of the anti-
Semitic excesses in Germany?
"I deplore them: the people
are silly and wild," he
declared. "The Jews will be
Hitler's ruin in the long run.
Hitler is terribly handicapped
by his anti-Semitism, which
is a crazy fad and not a
political system. The Jews
will be his ruin in the long
run, even if they perish with
him — especially if enough of
them perish with him."
