John L. Hirsch, director of
the Office of Israel and Arab-
Israel Affairs, U.S. Depart-
ment of State, will address
the Einstein Luncheon
Forum on Tuesday at noon at
Southfield Charley's it was
announced by Judges Ira G.
Kaufman and Benjamin
Friedman, the forum's co-
chairmen. Hirsch will discuss
"The Persian Gulf and the
Mideast Peace Process."
Born in Hamburg, Ger-
many, Hirsch holds a Ph.D.
degree in European history
from the University of
Wisconsin and was a lecturer
at Brooklyn College. He has
held a number of diplomatic
posts in Italy, Pakistan,
Somalia and that of political
officer and head of political
section at the U.S. Embassy
in Tel Aviv.
Fluent in Italian, French
and Hebrew, he also has serv-
ed with the U.S. Mission to
the United Nations and the
Bureau of Intelligence and
Research of the European
Division of NATO and Com-
mon Market Affairs.
In 1962, he was the reci-
pient of a Fulbright Scholar-
ship to Turin, Italy, for a
study of the Italian
Resistance movement.

Workshop
To Host Dinner

The Temple Emanu-El
Holiday Workshop, team
taught by Laura Kohn and
Dottie Dressler, will host a
Shabbat dinner for all
members of the class and
their families today.
On Sunday J.E.F.F. will
lead a program for fourth-
sixth graders and their
parents entitled "The Art
Work of Our Hands." There
will be a story hour for those
families with younger
children.
On Nov. 28, the temple will
host a luncheon for all its col-
lege students who will be in
town for the Thanksgiving
break.
The confirmation class will
go to Hebrew Union College-
Jewish Institute of Religion
in Cincinnati Dec. 4-6. On
Dec. 5 the kindergarten
students will have a Shabbat
luncheon with their families
following the young family
service at 10:15 a.m.
