Rabbi David Nelson

Rabbi David Nelson of
Cong. Beth Shalom was the
only Detroit rabbi selected
along with 24 other U.S. rab-
bis to be part of a rabbinic
mission to Amsterdam and
Poland.
The Polish government and
its tourist agency has invited
the rabbis, representing Con-
servative, Reform and Or-
thodox viewpoints

The rabbis will tour Jewish
sights of Amsterdam, in-
cluding the famous Por-
tuguese Synagogue, the Anne
Frank House, and the Rijks
Museum. They also will visit
members of the Jewish com-
munity of Warsaw and have a
five-day sightseeing tour
which will include: Warsaw,
Tychocin, Treblinka, Cracow,
Auschwitz-Birkenau, Lublin
and Majdanek. Following
Shabbat services, the rabbis
will walk through the War-
saw ghetto and stop at the
Warsaw Ghetto. Memorial,
Mila 18 and the Umschlag
Platz.
After Shabbat they will see
a special theatrical perfor-
mance at the Yiddish Theater
of Warsaw.

Medicine Series
Continues

"'lb Prolong Life: Organ
Transplants and Jewish Law"
will be the subject of a lecture
to be delivered by Rabbi Mor-
ton F. Yolkut at the B'nai
David Institute for Adult
Education at 8:15 p.m. Thurs-

day in the synagogue.
The lecture is the second in
a series entitled "Who Shall
Live and Who Shall Die:
Modern Medicine and Jewish
Law:' The series is open to the
community without charge.

Family Service
Is Offered

Adat Shalom Synagogue
will offer a creative Shabbat
service at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20.
Organized by Rabbi Elliot
Pachter, the service will be
geared towards the family.
Youngsters and adult
members of the synagogue's
chavurah program will lead
the congregation in prayer.
An oneg Shabbat will follow.
