Infants Service Group and City of Hope, Helen Rosenberg Can- cer Fighters. The ISG affair, "Showtime", was amidst the lavish splen- dor of Knollwood Country Club . . . with about 300 lassies in attendance. Infants Service Group, noted for its very fine work . . . and marvelous amateur shows throughout the years, did itself proud again as the gals saw ex-president Eleanor Riseman honored for her outstanding devotion of put- ting on these amateur shows since 1938. It was originally known as the Eva Prenzlauer Aid Socie- ty until changing to Infants Service Group . . . In 1937, Eleanor was contacted to put on a show . . . and 1938 became a member . . . with her first ISG masterprice, "Gay 90's Review" at Hotel Ft. Wayne, the first of many more smash hits to come. . . at Hotel Book-Cadillac, latin Quarter and Masonic Temple . . . Eleanor was president 1945, 1946 and 1947 . . . plus being responsible for in- troducing the group's first newspaper, "Infants Service Group Crier" . . . She has been entertainment chair- man 50 years . . . and was given a plaque for those golden annums of outstand- ing service. Twenty models and a crew of 50 Leah Marks Workers .. . The white runway flanked on both sides by glittering theatrical lights as the males and females strutted their stuff to melodious beats. Shirley Becker narrated as the show opened with five girls wearing top hats and body suits, dancing and swinging canes . . . then three more girls in colorful leotards and seven cute little tots (six girls and boy) doing their ex- ercises . . . All wore practical and smart-looking outfits from Leotards Etc., including casual garb, pants, skirts, everyday apparel and clothes you'd never expect Trudy Foster would carry . . . even elegant wear. Long runway, high floodlights, large Knollwood dining room transformed in- to an elegant "Showtime" set- ting . . . fashionable clothes from L'Uomo vogue, suits, sweaters and leathers . . . Bet- tina suits, dresses (both every- day and evening wear), gorgeous leathers in black, yellow and red, high-styled knits, suits with white fox trim and beaded, stunning Mosaic dress from Italy, etc. . . . Bricker-Tunis Furs for men and women in brilliant display, with perfect timing . . . First day of snow . . . and even inside Knollwood were sprays of false snow on the Bricker-Tunis furs as models walked the runway . . . Brilliant John Darakjian jewelry in ultimate splendor . . . City of Hope Helen Rosen- berg Cancer Fighters, a group whose giant workers in the fight against catastrophic diseases are recognized na- tionwide . . . having its an- nual Glamorama . . . a fashion extravaganza produc- ed and directed by Leah Marks . . . and chaired by Andi Wayburn, daughter of its president for this period (group is headed by five ex- presidents this year). A couple of big surprises to accompany such beauteous fashions this time around .. . Richard Fredericks, star of Man of La Mancha at Fisher Theater, thrilled almost 600 at Adat Shalom Synagogue with his stirring renditions from theater musicals like Oklahoma, Carousel, etc. Then the flashing back- ground, a live, male dancer along the long runway with its rolling footlights . . . as Tres Chic Petites, Bettina, Bricker-Tunis Furs and David R. put their best clothes for- ward . . . accompanied by D.O.C., Tappers and stylings of Mariomax and Tamara's In- stitute de Beaute . . . plus a couple of Loretta Lorion showstopper youngsters. The fashions against varied backgrounds of stars, both black and white and colored kaleidescope slides, the ap- pearance of fashion designer Dominic Rompollo, whose styles at Betinna seem to be creating a world unto itself . . . 25 models and a crew of over 50 . . . the wintry sounds and snows of a chilling season as Bricker-Tunis Furs displayed its elegance. It's been a struggle . . . but Leah Marks has arrived .. . as perhaps the top fashion show producer in this area .. . RECENT 11 O'CLOCK newscast o'er WWJ-TV Chan- nel 4 had Mort Crim telling Carmen Harlan about wish- ing he had brought a doggie bag back with some of the wonderful kosher dinner .. . Mort had been to the B'nai B'rith humanitarian awards banquet at Westin Hotel .. . catered by Jeffrey & Sarah Rosenberg of Mat Shalom Synagogue . . . who also catered the City of Hope Helen Rosenberg Cancer Fighters show in super fashion. T.K.'S IS OPENING SOON . . . at previous locale' of Dimitri's of Southfield .. . Southfield Road and Ten Mile . . . specializing in seafood (about 40 different kinds for lunch or dinner) with live lobster tank . . . plus steaks, chops and veal dishes. It's owned by Tom Kelly, former chef at Golden Lion and Kingsley Inn before go- ing into the restaurant business for himself about 11 years ago. Seating is for 270 with ban- quets all the time plus entire day Saturday and day or night on Sunday. It's definite that sometime in January, Tom will have dancing and live entertain- ment . . . A room will be level- ed and made into a cocktail lounge, with bar, trio and the likes of what a lot of peple have been craving for in the area. T.K.'s will be open Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 12 midnight, and Saturday, 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. ORCHARD LAKE Deli & Ribs, in shopping area next to Treats on Orchard Lake Rd. and Pontiac Trail, has 24 seats . . . but is more known for its carry-outs . . . In fact, if folks live within five miles and have a corned beef, Reuben, pastrami or what- ever sandwich craving, all it takes is a $7 or more order and the goodies will be delivered even at 9 p.m. if need be . . . Of course, large carry-out orders and catering orders are delivered anywhere . . . It's only been open about six months and seating is more like a fast in and out convenience. IMAGINE THIS . . .
