Jewish-German
Ties Promoted

New York (JTA) — The es-
tablishment of a cooperative
relationship to improve rela-
tions between the Federal
Republic of Germany and
American Jews was an-
nounced here last week by
Theodore Ellenoff, president
of the American Jewish Corn-
mittee, and Walther Leisler
Kiep, chairman of the Atlan-
tik Bruecke.
Following a conference at
AJCommittee headquarters
here, they described plans for
another conference between
their organizations in Bonn
Nov. 21-23, to be followed by
one in New York next year, at
which they hoped "to make
contributions to German-
American friendship?)
The Atlantik Bruecke (At-
lantic Bridge) is a private,
non-profit organization of peo-
ple active in business, science,
politics, the media and trade
unions. It seeks to promote
better understanding bet-
ween the United States and
West Germany. AJCommittee
is an 81-year-old human rela-
tions organization.

Israel, Poland
Linked By Air

Tel Aviv (JTA)—Direct air
service between Israel and
Poland was inaugurated last
week with a charter flight
operated by El Al's Sun Dor
charter company.
The flight from Israel car-
ried a group of Israelis
enroute to a tour of Poland,
with the return flight bring-
ing a group of American con- -
tributors to Israel on a tour of
Poland and Israel.
The flight to Poland took
just over four hours, and the
way back was three and a half
hours, helped by the winds.
