JWFederation that it is
Jewish authors and view-

they cannot meet that basic
requirement, then keep your

Center
Background

There's some background
information missing from
Ellyce Field's feature,
"Center of Activity" (Oct. 23).
For the record, it was
Evelyn Kasle, who, in 1983,
first brought the idea of
building a bridge between
Wayne State University and
the Jewish community to
WSU President David
Adamany's attention. She
then drew the special assign-
ment of determining how best
to do it.
There is now the Center for
Judaic Studies at the Univer-
sity because she received sup-
port and enthusiasm from
community leaders and work-
ed for more than a year to
facilitate the union between
Wayne State and the United
Jewish Charities .. .

'Lifestyles'

Windemere is truly
_ a very special place.

I have been a subscriber for
many years. I have enjoyed
the new changes in the for-
mat of The Jewish News. I
especially like the new col-
umn by Carla Schwartz call-
ed "Lifestyles." I think it in-
teresting to find out about the
local, average person and
their accomplishments. Carla
writes in a straightforward
easy-to-read manner. I look
forward to her column each
week.
We also enjoy your special
edition magazines.

West Bloomfield

ecause it provides the
services needed by the elderly
while preserving the environ-
m ental characteristics of a
Herman Frankel Organization Residen-
tial Corn munity.
There is complete separation between
the Full S ervice Convalescent Home on
the upper floor and the Supportive
Care Man or on the lower floor. The
building is on a hillside and both levels
have direct access to the extensively
landscaped grounds.

Rex Lanyi and Herman Frankel, the
developers, are particularly proud that
Windemere both functionally and
aesthetically provides a residential
environment that preserves dignity,
beauty, and maximum independence at
a time in life that its residents require
some medical and social support.

A Supportive and Skilled Care Residence

. Words cannot describe the feelings
that created Windemere. You must see
it to appreciate what it offers. Please drop

Windemere is located at
6950 Farmington Road
South of Maple Road

(Farmington Road is open to Windemere during it's paving.)

What a wonderful joy to
read of Sam Cohodas ("Pure-
ly Commentary," Oct. 23). For
his entire life (over 90 years),
"Uncle" Sam has understood
the importance of training
youth for the future. Whether
it be at Northern Michigan
University or at the Hebrew
University in Jerusalem, he
has been a life-long leader
and benefactor for higher
education.
