Dr. Hershel Sandberg was elected president of the board of directors of the Jewish Federation Apartments, Inc., at their recent annual meeting. Dr. Sandberg has been a board member of Jewish Federation Apartments since 1977 and a vice president since 1981. A physician in private practice, Dr. Sandberg was the 1986 recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Wayne State Univer- sity School of Medicine. Vice presidents are: Gerald Brody, Janet B. Levine, Neil A. Satovsky and Leo P. Sklar; secretary, Bess Krolik; assis- tant secretary, Carol Sue Coden; and treasurer, Howard Rosenberg. Winkelman and Michael B. Perlman and the late Joseph H. Jackier were honored with the establishment of the Presidents' Leadership Recognition Award. Perlman at the agency's annual meeting. International Jewish leader Max Fisher of Detroit was honored last week by his friends with the unveiling of a bust in his image by local sculptor Jerome Soble. The inscription on the bust says, "Max M. Fisher ... An Outstanding American Philanthropist and Dedicated Jew. An International Community Leader Who Has Remembered His Heritage." The bust is on permanent display at the Maple-Drake Jewish Community Center.
