for ABC News since 1977, an-
chor of World News Sunday
and roundtable participant
on This Week with David
Brinkley, will be the principal
speaker at the Cong. Shaarey
Zedek Israel Bond tribute
dinner 6 p.m. Thursday, it was
announced by David
Hermelin, general chairman
of the dinner and interna-
tional campaign chairman for
State of Israel Bonds.
Honored at the event will
be William Davidson of
Bloomfield Hills, a past presi-
dent of Shaarey Zedek and
currently chairman of its en-
dowment. Davidson, will be
presented at the dinner with
the State of Israel's "Peace
Medal."
As chief White House cor-
respondent, Donaldson
reports on President Reagan,
his administration and its
policies.
He was named the "best
television White House cor-
respondent in the business"
in 1984 by the Washington
Journalism Review and best
television correspondent in
1985 and 1986.
In addition to covering
every national political con-
vention since 1964,
Donaldson has covered such
stories as the Vietnam War,
both in Washington and, for
three months in 1971, in
Vietnam; the Iranian hostage
crisis; and Watergate.
Serving as associate
general chairman of the din-

UJA Election

Morton
New York (JTA)
Kornreich, head of one of New
York's largest insurance
brokerage firms, has been
elected national chairman of
the United Jewish Appeal's
1989 campaign. Kornreich
will be the first UJA national
chairman from New York Ci-
ty in 30 years. He will succeed
Martin Stein of Milwaukee.



More than $93,000 was raised at a recent meeting of the Jewish Welfare
Federation's Young Adult Division, hosted by David and Doreen
Hermelin. Members of the $2,500 division increased their gifts by an
average of 28 percent over last year. The meeting was chaired by, far left
and right, Paul Magy and Richard Rosenhaus, and their associate
chairmen Richard Soble and Jo Frank.
