Shabbaton at Cong. Beth
Abraham Hillel Moses, Rab-
bi Yaakov Rosenberg, former
vice chancellor of the Jewish
Theological Seminary will be
the scholar-in-residence, to be
held at the synagogue Nov. 13
and 14.

Thmple Beth El's 1988 con-
firmation class will share a
family Shabbat dinner on
Nov. 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the
Handelman Hall.
All parents, siblings and

Each family is asked to bring
a side dish that will serve ten
people. Following dinner, the
confirmands will present a

Charlotte Tessler
Jewish Campaign. Mrs.
Thssler has served on the
board of Hillel Day School for
many years, and is involved in
the Women's Division of the
Jewish Welfare Federation.
Both recently established the
Charlotte and Warren Tessler
College and Youth Fund at
the synagogue.
Serving on the committee
and planning this weekend
are Drs. Harris and Phoebe
Mainster, Franklin and Gerry
Levy, Dr. Gerald and Anne
Katzman and Dr. Henry and
Janice Citron.
Rabbi Rosenberg will
discuss: "Conservative
Judaism in the Home,
Synagogue and in the Com-
munity According to
Halachah."
The shabbaton will begin
with a Friday evening family
World Day
To Be Marked

Birmingham Temple School
students, under the direction
of Elaine Serling and Elaine
Kamienny, will present a
special pageant of music and
drama for the World Day
Family Service, 7:30 p.m. to-
day at the temple.
World Day, which falls on
Nov. 1, is the holiday which
dramatizes the fundamental
unity of all.
