Tour Offered
City of Southfield Iburs will
take a trip to churches and
synagogues throughout
Southfield at 7 p.m. Thursday,
leaving from the civic center
tennis courts„.
This week's -tour will visit
Cong. Shaarey Zedek, Mother
of God (Roman Catholic), St.
John's Armenian Church and
Northern Congregational
Church.
According to Sol Gelbman,
tour coordinator, the clergy at
the various sites will give a
history of the institution, a
description of the religious
tradition and explain the
various ritual items. The tour
was planned for residents to
learn about the various faiths
and cultures which exist in
Southfield.
If this tour is successful,
Gelbman said, future tours
will be scheduled.
Other synagogues who have
consented to be part of the
program are: Cong. Beth
Achim, Cong. B'nai David,
Young Israel of Southfield,
Cong. Beth Tefilo Emanuel
Tikvah and Cong. Shomrey
Emunah.
Refreshments will be serv-
ed at the tour's destination.

Culture Series
At B'nai Moshe
"Lunch with the Rabbi"
will initiate a series of
cultural events on Saturday
after Shabbat services,
featuring Rabbi Allan S.
Meyerowitz, B'nai Moshe's
spiritual leader, who will
discuss "Surrogate
Motherhood — Is One Jewish
Mother Enough?" Atten-
dance is by reservation only.
This and future events are
planned by B'nai Moshe's
new Cultural Commission
chaired by Susan Friedman.
Rabbi Leonid Feldman, a
former refusenik will speak
on "From Russia . . . With
Love . . . For Judaism" in the
synagogue's sanctuary on
Wednesday at 8 p.m.
The event is open to the
public and there is no charge.
Temple, J.E.F.F.
Join for Event
Temple Emanu-El's fourth
through sixth graders and
their families will begin a
series called "Jewish Sense-
Abilities" — an exploration of
Judaism through the senses
with a hands-on cooking ex-
perience, on Sunday at the
temple.
Parents and kids will learn
the history of traditional holi-
day dishes and will have the
chance to prepare them as
well. This series will continue
with an exploration of arts,
crafts, storytelling and music
and will culminate with a Tu
B'Shevat seder. This series is
sponsored in conjunction with
Jewish Experiences for
Families. For information

The families of Cong. Beth
Shalom in Oak Park invite
the community to join them
in a special Shabbat service
at 8 p.m. today when the
synagogue pays tribute to its
clergy for their combined 34
years of service to the con-
gregation and to the metro
Detroit area.
The celebration will pay
tribute to Rabbi David
Nelson, Cantor Samuel
Greenbaum and Ritual Direc-
tor Samuel Semp.
Special presentations will
be made, and a special Oneg
Shabbat will follow the ser-
vice.
