France . . . and Ken
Aptekar gave mom
and dad, Anne and Milt
Aptekar, the good news .. .
He had been awarded a
$15,000 oil painting grant by
the National Endowment for
the Arts in Washington, D.C.
. . . What's he doing in
France? . . . Ken has had
shows at several New York
galleries and is presently
painting in Paris, returning
to New York in January .. .
He submitted color slides of
ten portraits (including some
of Milt and himself) that the
judges found worthy enough
for this prestigious award .. .
Ken was a photographer
working for Leo Knight .. .
and transferred his skill to oil
painting.
MUST have been quite a
surprise for Irwin Iwrey to see
that he had gotten a hole-in-
one on the 157-yard 18th hole
at Wabeek Country Club a
short while back . . . Especial-
ly since he doesn't even play
golf! . . . Acer was Alvin Iwrey
. . . Irwin's first cousin.
