Ross, Safran To Lead
Trade Week Delegation

Doug Ross, director,
Michigan Department of
Commerce, and Jim Safran,
president, American-Israel
Chamber of Commerce of
Michigan, are spearheading a
delegation of Michigan com-
panies to the Israel America
Trade Week Conference being
held Sunday-Tuesday in
Washington, D.C.
Americans and Israelis will
mark the second anniversary
of the Israel-America Free
Trade Agreement, the first of
its kind for both countries.
Co-hosts for the meeting will
be U.S. Trade representative
Clayton Yeutter, and Israeli
Minister of Industry and
Trade, Ariel Sharon.
The conference, entitled
"The U.S.-Israel Free Trade
Agreement: A Model for Co-
Operation — A Partnership
for Growth," is sponsored by
both the Israel-America
Chamber of Commerce and
Industry, the Israel Export In-
stitute, Minister for Economic
Affairs, Embassy of Israel and
in co-operation with the U.S.
Department of Commerce,
U.S. Department of State,
Government of Israel Trade
Center and the American-
Israel Chamber of Commerce.
Highlights of the con-
ference include a reception at
the Israeli Embassy with the
new Ambassador, Moshe
Arad on Sunday night follow-
ed by business sessions on the
following topics for both Mon-
day and Tuesday: "Business
Opportunities in the U.S. and
Israel"; "Foundations for
Bilateral Trade: Practical and
Legal Considerations, joint
ventures, Israel as an
Economic Bridge"; "Pro-
moting Trade and Invest-
ment", and workshops on
"Consumer Goods", "In-
dustrial Goods", the "Defense
Market"; "Marketing" and
"Securing Financial Back-
ing."
A lunch will be co-hosted by
Yeutter and Sharon on Mon-
day and the one on Tuesday
will feature Senator Bob
Packwood and Rep. Tom
Downey speaking on "Trade
Issues for the 1990's — The
Environment for Bilateral
Trade". A reception will take
place on Capitol Hill honor-
ing Bill Brock, U.S. secretary
of labor and former U.S. trade
representative to Israel.
Max M. Fisher, chairman of
Operation Independence, will
address the conference and
Bob Garbarino, vice presi-
dent, Borman's Inc. will be a
speaker for the session on
"Consumer Goods." In addi-

tion, many Israeli and
American business and
government officials will
serve as speakers during the
conference.

Martin Friedman

moted Martin Friedman to
associate media director,
planning. Friedman will par-
ticipate in the media activity
of all Doner clients, as well as
develop and implement media

was group media supervisor,

Friedman was with Doyle
Dane Bernbach, New York,
where he started as a media
