Dr. Chaim Herzog, president
of Israel. The event took place
Monday at the Kotel
Hamaaravi in Jerusalem.
A parallel Hakhel
ceremony took place at Akiva
on Monday.

Southfield Councilwoman
Vicki Goldbaum has been
elected to a three-year term
on the Michigan Municipal
League board of trustees.
Currently serving as the
Southfield City Council's
president pro tem, Goldbaum
also is the immediate past
chairman of the National
League of Cities' Women in
Municipal Government
organization and serves on
the league's community and
economic development steer-
ing committee.
She is the immediate past
chairman of the MML's
Michigan Women in
Municipal Government af-
filiate and serves on the
league's transportation
committee.
Goldbaum's involvement in
Southfield government dates
back to 1972, when she was
active in that year's police
and fire millage campaign. In
the mid-1970s she served as
chairman of Southfield's
Bicentennial Commission.
