Adat Shalom Sisterhood
will pay tribute to long-time
member Sarah Rowin at the
Women of Achievement Lun-
cheon Torah Fund event at
noon Oct. 22. at Adat Shalom.
A member of Adat Shalom
Synagogue for more than 40
years. Mrs. Rowin will be
honored "for her service to
the synagogue, to its
sisterhood and to the corn-
munity."
Mrs. Rowin has been an ac-
tive participant on the
sisterhood board and in the
Adat Shalom Book Club, as
well as serving as sisterhood
liaison to the Jewish Com-
munity Book Fair. In addi-
tion, she has been a volunteer

To Hear DIA's Sachs
Sam Sachs II will address
the Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion Business and Profes-
sional Women's Division Pre-
Campaign Section ($2,000), at
a meeting on behalf of the
1988 Allied Jewish Cam-
paign on Oct. 19.
The meeting, 6 p.m. in the
home of Helen Zuckerman,
includes dinner and a tour of
the Zuckerman collection of
art.
As director of thDetroit
Institute of Arts for the past
two years, Sachs is responsi-
ble for the growth and
development the DIA has
undertaken in the area of
modern art.
The former director of the
Minneapolis Institute of Arts
and an adjunct professor at
the University of Minnesota,
Sachs has traveled and lec-
tured extensively. He has
organized exhibitions on a
wide range of periods and
styles and has written ar-
ticles for several publications.
A Harvard graduate, Sachs
holds a Master of Fine Arts

degree from New York
University.
Pola Friedman is chairman
of the Business and Profes-
sional Women Pre-Campaign
