Susie Schlussel

Susie Schlussel, an 11th
grader at Akiva Hebrew Day
School, has been appointed
Mazkirat Galil of the B'nei
Akiva youth group of
Detroit. Ms. Schlussel will
work with the group's
shlichim, Annette and Benny
Appel, on the development of
the 1987-1988 programming.
Hillel Van Leeuwan, also of
Akiva, will assume the posi-
tion of rosh tzevet hadracha
(head counselor).
A leadership training
seminar is planned for mid-
November in which staff
members from Detroit and
Cleveland will be offered
guidance and instruction on
youth leadership. The
seminar will be led by the
educational directors of B'nei
Akiva of New York.
Chevreyah Aleph (ages
6-12) are invited to a Succot
harvest festival of apple pick-
ing on Sunday. The group
will meet at Young Israel of
Southfield at 1:30 p.m.
Families are welcome.
Chevreyah Bet (high
school) will go ice-skating on
Oct. 18 at the Compuware
Oak Park Ice Arena. The
group will meet outside of the
arena at 4 p.m. Refreshments
will be served.

Date Available

PSAT test scheduled for Oct,
17, a Saturday, should be
aware of an alternative test
date available for Sabbath
observers. The alternative
test date is Oct. 20, but not
all high schools in Oakland
County may be planning to
give the PSAT test on that
date.
Parents should contact
their child's guidance
counselor or principal if they
wish the alternative testing
