Women's Division
Commitment and enthusiasm translated into
some impressive numbers for the Women's
Division this year: 600 volunteers, 7,500
contributors and a record $3.6 million for
the Allied Jewish Campaign.
Hundreds of women learned about them-
selves as Jews and about their community
at Food For Thought luncheons and the
annual Institute Day. Shalom Detroit wel-
comed 80 newcomers, and the School
and Youth Committee introduced religious
school children to the services provided by
their community.
To help Federation's member agencies
provide those services, the division placed
30 women in volunteer positions. A skilled
cadre of speakers and a new semi-annual
newsletter kept leadership—and the com-
munity—informed. And, throughout the
year, a conscientious Campaign Executive
Cabinet enabled the Detroit Women's
Division to achieve—again—the number
one position for per capita giving in the
country.
Meanwhile, the Business and Professional
Women's Division continued to grow.
More than 150 volunteers reached out to
their colleagues, raising $300,000 for the
Campaign and drawing 500 participants
to educational meetings throughout the year.
