Harold S. Berke, director of the Detroit Service Group, received special
recognition for his work. over the past decade at the DSG's 38th annual
golf outing for Allied Jewish Campaign workers. The presentation was
made by DSG chairman Milton Lucow.
Jewish Sports Hall Will
Induct Three At Banquet
The Michigan Jewish
Sports Hall of Fame announc-
ed three new members
scheduled for induction at the
forthcoming annual banquet.
This year's inductees in-
clude Dan Dworsky, a
linebacker and defensive cap-
tain for the University of
Michigan 1947 and 1948 na-
tional championship football
teams; Herman Fishman,
who won six varsity letters at
U of M including All Big Ten
honors in baseball and
basketball; and Myron
"Susie" Schecter, one of the
state's notable basketball
players during the 1920s and
1930s.
The banquet, which will be
held Oct. 12 at Cong. Shaarey
Zedek, will feature sport-
scaster Dave Diles as the
emcee and University of
Michigan Athletic Director
Don Canham as the main
speaker.
Canham also will receive
the First Annual Alvin N.
Foon Memorial Award "for
outstanding contributions to
sports and athletics in the
state of Michigan." The award
is named in memory of Al
Foon, the founding president
of the Michigan Jewish
Sports Hall of Fame, who died
suddenly last February.
As usual, the dinner will be
preceeded by a celebrity
