in question is used national-
ly by about 30,000 teachers to
teach the Holocaust to some
450,000 high school students.
In 1986, Price reportedly
complained that the cur-
riculum "gives no evidence or
objectivity. The Nazi point of
view, however unpopular, is
still a point of view, and is not
presented; nor is that of the
Ku Klux Klan."
Ronald Preston, deputy as-
sistant secretary of education,
called Price's comments "ap-
palling." He said his depart-
ment has introduced controls
to check faculty used for
review panels. He said he did
not know how Price, who
reportedly has strong ties to
anti-feminist groups, was
chosen as a panelist.

Le Pen Cancels
nip To Britain

London (JTA) — Jean-Marie
Le Pen, leader of France's far
rightwing National Front
Party, last week cancelled his
planned visit to Britain as
anger still boiled over his ,
remarks on a recent radio in-
terview that the Holocaust
was a mere footnote to the
history of World War II.
An embarrassed Conser-
vative Party made clear that
Le Pen would not be welcome.
He was invited by Sir Alfred
Sherman, a prominent Con-
servative and former political
advisor to Prime Minister
Margaret Thatcher to address
a fringe meting at the party's
annual conference in Black-
pool.
Norman Tabbit, national
chairman of the Conservative
Party said Le Pen would be
given no facilities at the con-
ference and urged party mem-
bers to boycott any fringe
meetings where he might
speak.

The misssion participants
pledged $24.9 million to the

cluding $2 million for Project
Renewal, the Israel-Diaspora

That was the largest sum ever
to come from the mission, ac-

The human body is truly on incredible machine. Even with the tremen-
dous growth in technology and the sciences, there are still many things
about it we don't fully understand.
But one thing we do understand and recognize is the job of the in-
tervertebral disc.
There are 23 spinal discs in the human body, separating the 24
vertebrae that make up the spine. The discs act as a cushion or shock
absorber and make possible .the flexibility of the spine.
Each disc consists of on outer envelope or capsule of cartilage and
an inner core of soft, semi-fluid pulpy fiber. When the 'spine bends
forward, the front part of the disc cartilage is com-
pressed and the core is forced to the rear. Under cer-
tain conditions, such as in cold or damp weather, the
disc expands in size and exerts pressure on the nerve
roots that exit from the spinal cord between the
vertebrae. When this happens, the irritated nerves
send a message of pain to the brain.
In its expanded condition, the disc is subjected
to pressure from all sides and is especially suscepti-
ble to injury. A blow to the area of the disc, a fall or
even a sudden and awkward movement can rupture
DR. STANLEY
the capsule, a condition known as "herniated disc."
B. LEVINE

As a person grows older, disc degeneration is a fairly common oc-
currence. Chances of degeneration are increased when the disc is her-
niated. The spine begins to lose its flexibility and there is pain upon the
slightest movement.
Statistics indicate that the majority of spinal disc injury cases respond
favorably under Chiropractic care. The Doctor of Chiropractic addresses
his efforts toward normalizing or enlarging the opening between the
affected vertebrae, thus reducing the pressure on the disc and irritated
nerves.
Low back pain should be considered a warning of possible disc in-
jury and a signal to consult a Doctor of Chiropractic as soon as possible.
