Epel, presi- dent, announces that the 39th annual dinner of the Detroit Chapter of the American Society For Tech- nion, Israel Institute of Technology will take place at 6:15 p.m. Oct. 29 at Cong. Shaarey Zedek. James Safran of the Tech- nion 2000 group was named chairman of the dinner com- mittee. His co-chairmen will be Dr. David Jacknow and Albert Newman. In recent years the local chapters' projects included the Maas Michigan Dor- mitory on the Technion cam- pus in Haifa, the Detroit Stu- dent Aid Fund, academic chairs and academic lec- tureship funds as well as in- dividual research funds. In spring 1987, the chapter embarked on a new project, the Michigan Applied Research Fund, to support ap- plied research projects carried out by Technion Faculty to help industrial development in Israel. CHAIM Meeting Slated Monday Dr. Henry Krystal, psychiatrist, Holocaust sur- vivor and theorist on the Holocaust will speak to CHAIM (Children of Holocaust Survivors Associa- tion In Michigan) at its general meeting on Monday. Dr. Krystal will be speaking on his reflections about being a survivor and the aging pro- cess. Refreshments will be served. There is a charge for non-members. The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the main Jewish Community Center.
