BY DR. STANLEY B. LEVINE Doctor of Chiropractic Whiplash neck injuries can be a painful, incapacitating experience In the case of an otherwise healthy individual who is unused to pain and suffering, serious emotional problems may result. "After our accident my wife changed from a pleasant young wife and mother into an irritable, nagging grouch," a husband once told hi family Doctor of Chiropractic. This 'Jekyll and Hyde' effect is not too difficult to understand whe n one examines the multitude of health problems that can arise fro m whiplash. The symptoms of whiplash may first appea within hours after the accident. But such rapid occur rences are by no means universal. Symptoms may op pear days, weeks or even months later. The victim may not even associate the symptoms with the acci- dent that caused them. It is hoped that the majority of people would recognize stiffness and pain in the neck and shoulders as symptoms of whiplash. Not so well known, but also traceable to whiplash, are such conditions as extreme DR. STANLEY nervousness, upset stomach, ringing in the ears, B. LEVINE nausea and shortness of breath. Other symptoms include insomnia, anxiety, low back pain, cold hands or feet and ex- cessive sweating. Symptoms may be constant or may come and go, depending on the individual case. But in any case, the victim may lead a 'Jekyll and Hyde' existence until they receive professional care. Pain that's here to- day, gone tomorrow and back again the next day is hardly conducive to a pleasant personality and a serene outlook on life. Since - a whiplash neck injury involves the bones, muscles and ligaments of the neck, many people are turning to Doctors of Chiropractic for care of whiplash injuries. His training is aimed at the treatment of neuro - musculo - skeletal disorders, of which a whiplash injury is only one type. When a formerly healthy happy person finds their life turned into a 'Jekyll and Hyde' nightmare due to the miseries of whiplash, they owe it to themselves to see if a Doctor of Chiropractic has the answer to their problem. Handel's work started out in the year 1739 as a work known as Exodus, and its final form in 1756 was the result of a merging of the oratorio's three parts. The Steinberg-Chalat Fund of Temple Israel was created by Myron Steinberg in mem- ory of his wife and grandson, and is the sponsor of many musical programs at the temple. .
