Begins Activities

The Community Jewish
High School, combining
United Hebrew High and
students from Cong. Beth
Shalom, has enrolled 165
students for the academic
year.
The school is offering
several new programs, in-
cluding Hebrew language in-
struction on three levels on
Sundays. Mid-week there is a
course on "Israel' and
Zionism" taught by Rabbi
Van Leewauen for students
who are fluent in Hebrew.
Aaron Goff has been named
Informal Jewish Educator,
responsible for planning stu-
dent trips and activities
throughout the year. He is
also adviser to the student
council.
Council president Sandy
Rockind has announced a
Sunday morning bagel sale to
help raise money for special
student activities.
This Sunday, guest speaker
Rabbi Avroham Jacobwitz of
Machon Mbrah Center —
Jewish Learning Network of
Michigan will address
10-12th graders on "Food for
Thought for the High
Holidays."

Students Will
Break The Fast

Members of Chevreyah Bet
(high school) are invited to
break the fast of Tzom
Gedaliyah at a special
"Break-Fast Dinner" on Sun-
day. The group will meet at
the Young Israel of Greenfield
one half hour before the Min-
chah services for a session
about the High Holy Days
and after services will be in-
vited to take part in a dinner.
