RAYMOND ZUSSMAN- SOUTHFIELD POST NO. 333 Sye Gorman, Commander Gertrude Golinbursky, Auxiliary President Akiva Teacher Wins Prize For Curriculum Florence Ziffer, third grade Judaic • studies teacher at Akiva Hebrew Day School, was awarded the second an- nual Rabbi Isaac Simon Chumash Prize for Innovative Curriculum Development of Torah Umesorah — the Na- tional Society for Hebrew Day Schools. The award was presented to Mrs. Ziffer "in recognition of her development of a cur- riculum for teaching the Rashi Biblical interpretation to students at the third :grade level." The award was established and is sponsored by the Chelst, Stohl and Simon families in memory of Rabbi Isaac Simon, a Boston spiritual leader and educator. The award was presented to Mrs. Ziffer by Dr. Kenneth Chelst, an Akiva parent and former chairman of the school's Education Committee.
