The awards will be presented at a national tribute dinner to be held Oct. 31 at the Helmsley Palace Hotel in New York. The tribute coincides with the In- ternational Vision Expo. Dr. Golden will be recogniz- ed "for his outstanding par- ticipation as a founder of the optometric program which is being established at Tel Aviv University in Israel. Schedul- ed to begin next year, the op- tometric program will be the first in Israel and the Middle East.' Dr. Shapiro also is a founder of the optometric program which will offer a four-year academic curriculum, together with a state-of-the- art continuing education program. Dr. Steven Tuckerman of Columbus, Ohio, will serve as tribute dinner chairman as well as major gifts chairman for the campaign to raise funds for the optometric program.
