Le Pen Invited
To Britain
London (JTA) — The British
Conservative Party has made
it clear that French rightwing
leader Jean Marie Le Pen will
not be welcome at its annual
conference in Blackpool Oct.

Norman Tebbit, national
chairman, said Sunday that
Le Pen would be given no
facilities at the conference
and urged Conservatives to
boycott any fringe meeting he
might address. Le Pen, a
member of the Chamber of
Deputies for the extreme
rightwing National Front, in-
furiated French Jews and
others a week ago by saying
in a radio interview that the
Holocaust was "a mere
detail" in their history of
World War II.
He was invited to Blackpool
by Sir Alfred Sherman, a
former political advisor to
Prime Minister Margaret
Thatcher. Sherman, who is
Jewish, a one-time com-
munist turned rightwing
ideologue, sent his invitation
before Le Pen publicly
denigrated the Holocaust. He
was quoted as saying he
would have nothing more to
do with Le Pen unless he
retracted. -
But Sherman has not
withdrawn his invitation. He
apparently is satisfied with
Le Pen's claim that he bears
no animosity toward Jews.

Jerusalem (JTA) — Two
bombs planted at a bus stop
near a kindergarten in the
Neve Yaacov section of nor-
thern Jerusalem were
discovered and safely
dismantled by police Sunday
morning.
