Vivace Concert Features
Black, Jewish Music

The Vivace Series of the
Birmingham Temple will
open its season with a concert
featuring Cantor Harold Or-
bach of Temple Israel and Ar-
thur Thompson at the Birm-
ingham Temple on Oct. 18 at
7:30 p.m.
Their program will be
devoted to the musical and
historical routes of black and
Jewish music.

Thompson is a soloist with
the Metropolitan Opera. He
recently completed a recor-
ding of Porgy and Bess with
the Cleveland Orchestra.
Cantor Orbach has given
many local performances and
has appeared on stage
elsewhere. There is a charge
for tickets. For information,
