He was one of the finest athletes in the local area during the '30s . . . and one of four brothers at University of Michigan (Her- man, Mickey, Manny and Ben) to win varsity letters. He'll be one of those honored by Michigan Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, Oct. 12 at Cong. Shaarey Zedek. Herman was a four-sport star at Northern High .. . won six varsity letters at U of M . . . and chosen to All Big-10 baseball and basketball. Then there's Myron "Susie" Schecter . . . probably one of the state's finest basketball players during the '20s and '30s . . . a high school star at Northwestern and distinction of being first player in Michigan to score over 200 points (221) in one season at City College of Detroit (now Wayne State U.). Dan Dworsky was a six var- sity letter man at University of Michigan . . . four in foot- ball (defensive captain of Michigan's 1947 and 1948 na- tional champs) and three in wrestling. The trio will be inducted at Oct. 12 banquet . . . Great to see Herinan and "Susie" in there . . . Sure wouldn't be much of ,a Michigan Jewish Sports Hall of Fame without them.
