Jerusalem — Citizens For
Pollard announced Tuesday
that it plans to hold a pre-
Rosh Hashanah assembly at
the Kotel on behalf of Anne
and Jonathan Pollard. Sept.
22, "Citizens for Pollard will
call upon the Israeli govern-
ment to take any and all
possible action to help bring
the Pollards to Israel during
the coming year," according to
the announcement.
"Citizens for Pollard will
also call upon the United
States government to im-
mediately release Anne
Pollard on humanitarian
grounds so that she can
receive emergency medical
treatment for her grave il-
lness," the press release con-
tinues, concluding, "The
assembly will demonstrate
friendship, support and collec-
tive responsibility to the
Pollards and their families, as
well as reassurance that the
Jewish people have not and
will not forget their sacrifice.
The struggle will not be aban-
doned until Anne and
Jonathan Pollard are free and
at home in Israel."

Out Of Prison
Tel Aviv (JTA) — Alexei
Magarik, the last Prisoner of
Conscience, has been releas-
ed from a Siberian labor camp
after serving little more than
a year of a three year
sentence.
Hagarik was quoted as tell-
ing friends after his release
that he hoped he would soon
be allowed to leave the Soviet
Union for Israel. Release from
prison does not automically
guarantee an exit visa.
Magarik, a cellist and
clandestine teacher of
Hebrew, was first denied per-
mission to emigrate in 1984.
His early release has been at-
tributed to pressure from the
West.
