Mrs. Helen Pikstein; and two
grandsons.
PAUL R. SALOMON, 77,
died Sept. 14. He leaves his
wife, Eva; a son, Marvin; a
daughter, Mrs. William (Lor-
raine) Irving of California; a
sister, Ernestine Horwitz; and
five grandchildren.
MARY SALTER, 86, died
Sept. 9. She leaves a son,
Harold; and five
grandchildren.
HARRY STEIN, 82, of Oak
Park, died Sept. 11. Survived
by his wife, Rebecca; a son,
Leo; a daughter, Mrs. Sidney
(Lynn) Leib; seven grand-
children and one
great-granddaughter.
LENA TRUSTMAN, 93, of
Riverview, died Sept. 10. Sur-
vived by three sons, Ralph of
San Bruno, Calif., Jack of
Tucson, Ariz., and Charles of
Los Angeles, Calif.; a brother,
Max Okoon of California; four
grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
ISIDOR TURETSKY, 84, of
Philadelphia, Pa., died Sept.
4. Survived by two sons, Alvin
of Elkins Park, Pa., and
Maurice of Franklin; and five
grandchildren.
EVA WEINZWEIG, 88, of
Detroit, died Sept. 14. Surviv-
ed by a daughter, Mrs.
Sheldon (Miriam) Sandweiss;
four grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
Dr. G. Halprin
Former Detroiter Dr.
Gerald M. Halprin of
Nashville, Tenn., first director
of pulmonary medicine at St.
Thomas Hospital in
Nashville, died Aug. 29 at age
50.
Prior to joining the hospital
staff 14 years ago, Dr. Halprin
was assistant professor at
Vanderbilt University. He in-
structed pulmonary physi-
cians in the Vanderbilt
fellowship and residency pro-
grams. At St. Thomas
Hospital, he was responsible
for developing the respiratory
care program and moderniz-
ing the techniques used in
treating chronic lung disease.
Dr. Halprin played a key
role in establishing the St.
Thomas Hospital Cardiopul-
monary rehabilitation Center
in 1977. In 1978, he entered
private practice in pulmonary
medicine and allergies.
Dr. Halprin earned his
medical degree at Wayne
State University School of
Medicine in 1962. He com-
pleted his internship and
residency at Northwestern
University in Evanston, Ill.
He is survived by his wife,
Bonnie; a daughter, Lisa of
Nashville; two sons, Steven of
Chicago and Jon of Nashville;
and a sister, Mrs. Barbara
Katzman of Southfield.
Seymour Alpert
Seymour B. Alpert, owner of
Sylvia's dress shops in
Southfield and West Bloom-
field, died Sept. 11.
A native Detroiter, Mr.
Alpert was graduated from
the City College of Detroit
and Walsh College of Accoun-
ting. Prior to opening the
dress shop, he owned Emer-
son and Dumont, a television
wholesaler on Dexter in
Detroit.
He was a member of Perfec-
tion Lodge of the Masons,
B'nai B'rith and the Fur-
niture Club of Detroit. He
had been a volunteer for the
Detroit Election Board.
He leaves his wife, Sylvia;
three sons, Fred, Gary and
Joel; a brother, Maurice; and
six grandchildren.
Jacob Kahn
Jacob L. Kahn, past chair-
man of the board of Gardner-
White Furniture Co., died
Sept. 8 at age 81.
Born in St. Joseph, Mo., Mr.
Kahn lived 57 years in
Detroit. He retired from the
company in 1980. Mr. Kahn
was a past president of the
Furniture Club of Detroit and
a member of Century Lodge
of B'nai B'rith.
He leaves his wife, Eva; a
son, Irwin; a daughter, Mrs.
Henry (Rita) Muroff; a sister,
Mrs. Margaret Cooke; ten
grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren.
Henry Obron
Henry Obron, a manufac-
turer and owner of the Ad-
vance Bag and Manufactur-
ing Co., died Sept. 11 at age
66.
Born in Poland, Mr. Obron
was a member of Adat
Shalom synagogue, Men's
ORT and B'nai B'rith.
He leaves his wife, Shirley;
a son, Dr. Jeffrey; and a
daughter, Mrs. Marc (Cindy)
Kahn.
