Louis Nagel
The Julius Chajes -Music
Fund Concert Series will pre-
sent Louis Nagel in concert
on Sept. 13 at 3:30 p.m. in the
Aaron DeRoy Theater of the
Main Jewish Community
Center.
Dr. Nagel is a concert
pianist and professor of music
whose career has taken him
to Canada, England, the
British Virgin Islands and
Australia, in addition to
many cities in the United
States.
A graduate of the Juilliard
School, he studied with
Rosina Lhevinne, Josef Raieff,
Joseph Bloch and Robert
Starer. Subsequent to his
graduation he worked with
Vladimir Ashkenazy.
Dr. Nagel won top awards
from the National Arts Club,
Concert Artists Guild,
Geneva, Juilliard Orchestra
and National Federation of
Music Clubs competitions.
Nagel has taught at the
University of Michigan since
1969, and has been associated
with the National Music
Camp at Interlochen since
1971. In 1984, he was invited
to visit the Conservatorium of
Music in Sydney, Australia,
where he was artist-in-
residence for six weeks.
