Technion Update
Meeting Focus
Prof. Brian Silver, the
Technion-Israel Institute of
lbchnology vice president for
academic development, will
speak at the Detroit Chapter
public meeting to be held at
the United Hebrew Schools
on Tuesday at 7:45 p.m. His
topic will be "Technion Up-
date."
Dr. Joseph N. Epel, presi-
dent, Detroit Chapter, vice
president of the National
American Technion Society
and a member of the interna-
tional board of governors of
Technion, Haifa, will chair
the program.
Prof. Silver received his
Ph.D. degree from the Univer-
sity of London. He joined the
Technion staff in 1967 in the
department of chemistry. His
research is on the cell mem-
brane of red blood cells,
platelets and bacteria.
Besides his work at the
lbchnion, Prof. Silver has
been involved with research
projects at several British
universities, the Institut
Pasteur, Paris, and the Weiz-
mann Institute in Israel.
The public is invited. There
is no charge.
Family Spot
Session Due
The Jewish Community
Center's Family Spot will
start a new session of discus-
sion groups and informa-
tional classes at 11 a.m. Oct.
19 in the Family Spot, room
331 at the Center.
The "Chicken Soup and So
Much More" program will be
held on Fridays and will
feature professionals in the
fields of child development,
pediatrics, social work and
Judaic observances and
activities.
Family Spot is open to
mothers-to-be and mothers
with babies 12 months and
under.
