Stern . 38 FRIDAY, SEPT. 11, 1987 Dr. Norman J. Cohen will be the Goldberg Scholar-in Residence at Temple Israel for the weekend of Selichot, Sept. 18 and 19. Director of the Rabbinic School at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York, Dr. Cohen is also professor of Midrash. His series of lectures is sponsored by the Dr. Robert B. Goldberg Fund of Temple Israel, and will consist of four individual presentations. He will speak on "A Modern Encounter with the Midrash: Immersion into the World of the Rabbis" at 8 p.m. Sept. 18. At 9:30 a.m., Sept. 19, Dr. Cohen will speak at the rab- bis' study group on "Cain and Abel: Rabbinic Notions of Sin and Atonement." At a 12:30 p.m. luncheon for members of the Temple Israel Religions School faculty, Dr. Cohen's message will be "Teaching Teachers to Teach Midrash."
